Code of Virginia Changes for Utility Billing Policy effective July 1, 2024.

The Code of Virginia has extended the time an account can be delinquent. Residential customers will not be discontinued until 45 days past due and if the weather temperature is over 92 degrees (forecasted local temperature provided by the National Weather Service). The town has added the following penalties for accounts not paid by the 15th of each month. Listed below is the updated Utility Billing Policy:
- Accounts not paid by the due date will be assessed a 10% penalty.
- Accounts not paid by the 25th of the month will be assessed an additional $20.00 late fee.
- Accounts not paid by the 6th of the following month from the due date will be assessed an additional 10% penalty.
- Accounts not paid by the 20th of the following month from the due date will be assessed an additional 10% penalty.
- Accounts not paid by the 30th of the following month from the due date will be disconnected and assessed an additional $20.00 fee for restoring water to the service address.
- The oldest outstanding bill and associated fees and interest must be paid to have the service restored.
