Water Conservation

A recent article in StreamLine, a publication of the Virginia Rural Water Association, provides insight into common residential water usage and some common causes of water loss.  Flushing toilets account for approximately 27% of household water usage.  This number can increase significantly due to a leaking toilet which is more likely to leak than any other household fixture.

Farm Use Plate and Placard Update:

6/3/2024

Farmers in Virginia use vehicles in a variety of ways for their farms. The type of license plates or placards you choose to display on your vehicle determines how the vehicle may be used.Beginning July 1, 2024, a DMV-issued permanent farm use placard is required for unlicensed (unregistered) farm use panel trucks, pickup trucks, or sport utility vehicles with a GVWR under 7,500 pounds.

Our town office and DMV Select will be closed on Monday May 27th for Memorial day. The trash pickup on Monday May 27th, will be done the following day on Tuesday May 28th, and Tuesday's trash pickup will be done on Wednesday May 29th.

The Town of Victoria is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.   The position of Police Officer involves the routine performance of general police duties which may include patrol, criminal investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, accident investigation, and any other duties required by department policy or town ordinance. Applicants must be 21 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent, possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License, must be a U. S. citizen, excellent physical condition, excellent reputation, and moral character. Current Virginia police officer certification desired but not required.  A copy of the job description may be obtained at the town office. Applications may be obtained at the Victoria Municipal Building 1809 Main St. Victoria, Virginia, during regular business hours or online at www.victoriava.net.  Submit all applications to the Victoria Police Department, P.O. Box 1421, Victoria, VA 23974, ATTN: Police Officer Vacancy. Position is open until filled. All positions within the Town of Victoria are subject to random drug testing. Hometown Hero Banners

The long awaited Hometown Hero banners were installed on the lampposts along Main Street today.  We have 11 more lampposts that could be used for Hometown Hero banners in the future.  Applications for banners for next year will be available in the fall of 2024.  Thank you to all who participated in this year's program.
