Public Hearing on Proposed Golf Cart Ordinance, Proposed Election Ordinance, and Proposed Charter Amendment
The Victoria Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 7:00PM in the Victoria Municipal Building, 1809 Main Street, to receive public input on a proposed amendment to the Charter of the Town of Victoria, a proposed ordinance change for the election of mayor and council, and a proposed ordinance allowing the use of golf carts in the Town of Victoria.
Amendment to the Charter of the Town of Victoria:
Senate Bill 1157 was passed by the General Assembly during the 2021 Special Session I. This action requires changing municipal elections from May to November. The current charter language reflects elections in May. The charter amendment will reflect the changes in the Code of Virginia.
Election Change Ordinance:
In addition to the charter amendment, a transitional ordinance is necessary to change municipal elections from May to November. This proposed ordinance outlines the process of transitioning from May elections to November elections.
Golf Cart Usage:
A proposed ordinance to allow for the use of golf carts on designated public highways as permitted by Virginia Code §46.2-906.2.
