Our town office and DMV Select will be closed on Monday May 27th for Memorial day. The trash pickup on Monday May 27th, will be done the following day on Tuesday May 28th, and Tuesday's trash pickup will be done on Wednesday May 29th.

The Town of Victoria is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.   The position of Police Officer involves the routine performance of general police duties which may include patrol, criminal investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, accident investigation, and any other duties required by department policy or town ordinance. Applicants must be 21 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent, possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License, must be a U. S. citizen, excellent physical condition, excellent reputation, and moral character. Current Virginia police officer certification desired but not required.  A copy of the job description may be obtained at the town office. Hometown Hero Banners

The long awaited Hometown Hero banners were installed on the lampposts along Main Street today.  We have 11 more lampposts that could be used for Hometown Hero banners in the future.  Applications for banners for next year will be available in the fall of 2024.  Thank you to all who participated in this year's program.

Law Enforcement Responds to Reports of Gunshots Near Railroad Park

3/27/2024

On the evening of Saturday, March 23rd, Victoria Police Department received a report of gunshots in the vicinity of Railroad Park. Victoria Police Department with the assistance of Kenbridge Police Department and Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office were on scene within minutes of being dispatched to the call.  Upon arrival and after a check of the area, no firearms were found.  Further investigation, with help from the other law enforcement agencies and citizens, led to a suspect being identified.  An arrest was made, without incident, in the case and the firearm was turned over to Victoria Police Department.  Investigation of the incident indicates that the shots were fired into the air and were not directed towards anyone or anything.  Victoria Police Department is very appreciative of the assistance of the other law enforcement agencies in the county and citizens in bringing this case to a close.

Lakeview and Oakwood Cemeteries

Families owning burial lots in Lakeview or Oakwood Cemeteries in Victoria are asked to please remove all floral and decorative items on the ground as soon as possible.  The first grass cutting of the cemeteries is planned for Thursday, March 28, 2024.  Floral and decorative items remaining on the ground on March 28th will be removed.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in this matter.

Town Cleanup Day

The Town of Victoria will sponsor a town cleanup day on Saturday, April 13, 2024.  Participants will meet at the flagpole in the park at 9:00 A.M.  Cleanup activities will be planned at various places throughout town.  Trashbags will be provided.  Please bring your own gloves.

Thursday Morning Power Outage

3/14/2024

The townwide power outage that occurred this morning was due to a tree falling across a power line next to the Dominion substation in Victoria.  The tree striking the line caused a short that shut the substation down.  Power was brought back up to most of the town but Family Dollar/Dollar Tree will be without power for a couple of more hours.

2024 Statewide Tornado Drill

The 2024 Statewide Tornado Drill will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 9:45 A.M.  The Town of Victoria will be sounding the tornado sirens at 9:45 as part of this drill.  You can register for the tornado drill with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management at Statewide Tornado Drill.  Please take time to make preparations now in case a tornado warning is issued for our area.

HELP WANTED:  Water Plant Operator

The Town of Victoria is accepting applications for the position of Water Plant Operator.   This position may be hired as Water Plant Operator Trainee or Water Plant Operator depending on qualifications.  This position is responsible for the operation of the water treatment facility for the Town of Victoria.  This position works a rotating schedule and requires work on weekends and holidays. Applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Applicants must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license. A copy of the job description may be obtained at the town office.
